DOCUMENTATION OF VESSEL IDENTITY DETERMINES THE SAFETY OF PORTS.  Vessel documentation & information and Search and Rescue (SAR), are the two most important factors for securing ports all over the world. For one thing, there are un-licensed or illegal vessels that dock at ports and change their vessel ID and information by putting fake names or flags on their vessel, while carrying illegal material or illegal fishing. EUCAP’s Maritime Operational Capability Project reached a milestone in Berbera, when the Somaliland Coast Guard (SLCG) received three fast and modern boats with trailers and spare partsdonated by Sweden. The SLCG also received three cars: two from the EU Delegation and one from EUCAP,to support building slipways and other necessary facilities for the boats. Additionally, 80 SLCG officers received training for safe and efficient use of the boats. Basic safety training was given to 50officers, while 30 officers received maintenance and technology and navigation and operational training.
